Compact or subcompact?

[edit]

Daihatsu's official website says compact. However, I could be wrong due to the fact I used Google Translate to translate the page. Any native speakers that could confirm either way? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sagquattro2009 (talkcontribs) 02:35, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Subcompact" is mostly an American designation, and widely used in WikiProject Automobiles for consistency. What is called "compact" in Japan usually mean "subcompact", explained in B-segment#Japan, or sometimes also include city cars. Proven by a Google search for "compact car" in Japanese (コンパクトカー, Konpakutokā): https://www.google.com/search?q=%E3%82%B3%E3%83%B3%E3%83%91%E3%82%AF%E3%83%88%E3%82%AB%E3%83%BC Andra Febrian (talk) 05:37, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
